Good morning readers,
A new ICT class has started and our teachers surprised us giving shits of paper all over the class, what was going on? We started to follow Michael’s steps and we suddenly discovered that we were actually creating planes… but what was the point?
The answer came when Michael raised this question: Is there any plane exactly the same than any other around you? Or are there all different from each other?
The fact was that every plane was different and unique, as we all are. With this experiment we were unconsciously getting into the point that every brain is unique. As one of our professors told us, "we cannot expect students to be the same when they have a different code". Our brains are the combination of two main things: on the one hand, we find our DNA, which is something we are born with, and on the other we get our society, our environment and the way in which we are educated.
After then we started to work in pairs. Teachers gave us a link to read an article about Neuroeducation and their branch of knowledge. I worked with Ana María Muñoz and we both discovered some related with the brain and with the process of learning in children, like physical sport of cooperative learning. To summarize ideas, we made a mind map using pooplet (click on task 3 to see the result).
We had also time to talk about the three kind of brains we have; limbic, cognition and executive. Each one has a different function. The limbic refers to basic learning devices like money, cognition brain is in charge of mental processes and the executive one makes or execute all work.
Finally, teachers showed us "kahoot", another educative tool to play online all the class together ( it is also in my Symbaloo). The best thing I found in this tool is that teachers can provide some feedback and all students take part and it motivates them with competitiveness.
I really enjoyed this class, it was engaging for sure! See you soon readers,
Ángela de Pablo
